Atrium Estiatorio: The Place (Charlie’s POV)

As Mari and I walked to the restaurant, I was surprised at how short a walk it was from the Glendale Galleria. So surprised that as we were walking to it, Mari had to literally stop me from walking past it.  All I saw was a bright light and there it was, Atrium Estiatorio! Aside from noticing their name up in lights, my eyes gravitated to their huge black and white banner promoting their Saturday & Sunday brunch. Looking back, I wondered if the second story where that sign was hanging is open for brunch as well? So far, all I know is the first floor where Mari and I had dinner.

The lobby/waiting area seemed like any other restaurant, except for the piano. I’m pretty sure it is purely for decoration. Although a piano brunch sounds kinda cute (feel free to give me credit for this idea, Atrium!). But, having a piano outside would really mess with the instrument itself so I doubt piano brunch would ever be a “thing” here. The entrance was well-lit, and I was excited to go in as I was starting to get hungry!

Our reservation was at 6:00 PM and we arrived 25 mins early. As soon as we walked in, the Hostess or maybe Manager greeted us and although we were early, she let us choose our table and told us the kitchen would open promptly at 6:00 PM. We were ok with that, of course. The place was cute and looked very tidy. I somewhat felt underdressed wearing gray jeans and a New Balance puffer jacket. So, if you are planning to come to dinner here, please try to make an effort. Mari did, so I’ll do the same next time. After all, we are spending our hard-earned money here!

Although the place looked put together, I felt like something was missing. I don’t know if it was the lighting or the minimalistic look they were going for. It felt like it was missing charm. It looked a bit cold. It reminded me a bit of the generic banquet halls a Latino family would rent out for their daughter’s Quinceanera.  But maybe if they switched out the lamps they had on each table to real candlelight, it would give the place a warmer/cozier and more intimate vibe.

The chairs were comfortable, the restroom was clean, and even though the kitchen wasn’t open, our server Nathon was ready to get us drinks, since the bar space looked ready to go. A few minutes later Nathon brought over complimentary crispy pita with olives, humus, and pickles. He then took our dinner order and soon we were ready to eat!
