Our appetizer came in pretty quickly. Nathon, our server was really nice in explaining what we were having.
First, we tried the Trio of Spreads, which is basically more crispy pita with 3 different spreads. I’m definitely a “hummus gurl” through and through, so I’ll skip talking about that one and go into the other two.The cucumber dill tzatziki was very refreshing and tasted like a healthier sour cream. I can’t say that I enjoy Greek yogurt but the mix of the cucumber, and whatever it was mixed with, spread over the pita was quite enjoyable. But what really surprised me was the smoked eggplant spread. To be honest, I didn’t enjoy my first bite, but after dipping my spoon in the bowl again to spread it over my pita, it ended up being my favorite!
Second, we had the Spanish Octopus. This one did come with chorizo but because Mari doesn’t eat meat, we had them put it on the side. The octopus was so tender mixed in with the potato, chef’s kiss! I could’ve sworn that I had taken a picture of it but hey, we are just getting started with this blog and we are bound to miss a thing here and there. Although I was enjoying it, my taste buds could sense that it was missing something, the chorizo! That baby was all for me. I seasoned the octopus with it and this appetizer could’ve been my main dish and I would’ve been happy. It was so good, that I forgot there were “olives” in there. Somehow the full combination worked! By the way, you read right. I HATE OLIVES!
Finally, our main dishes arrived and I ended up going with the Mediterranean Lamb Chops. I love meat and I couldn’t help myself. At first glance, it looked pretty but quite small. I got mine medium rare and probably should have ordered it well done. It was so small I just wanted to grab it by the rib and just bite the meat off like a lollipop and finish it in 2 bites. There was more bone than meat. It was quite forgettable. Looking back, Nathon had suggested using the spreads from the appetizer as a dipping sauce for it, and I totally regret not trying that out. That could’ve been fun.
